Noosa (QLD, Australia)

About Noosa

Noosa is located by the ocean on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Noosa Heads has a population of around 10,000 while the surrounding regions have around 35,000. This being said, over 250,000 people visit Noosa each year!

Noosa Heads is 160km (1.5 hours drive) from Brisbane and 250km (3 hours drive) from the Gold Coast (that is, if you don't stop off along the way like I did).

My Stay in Noosa

I stayed at Noosa Heads for 1 night. I arrived in Noosa a little late and had enormous trouble finding accomodation and almost resorted to sleeping in my car. Given my car was packed full with my belongings, this wasn't a very exciting thought. I had tried hotels, backpackers, YHA, the camping ground... In the end, I found a (relatively) cheap room right on The Parade (in the main cafe area - across from the beach).

Noosa came across as a trendy but relaxed place. As nice as it was, I think I prefer Byron Bay. Byron Bay seems to have a more open and natural feel to it. But I should say that I only spent 1 night at both places so these are basically my first impressions.

Photos of Noosa

This is Main Beach. I took this photo as soon as I arrived in Noosa. I arrived a little late and didn't want to miss a nice sunset photo!...

Noosa in the morning

I took this photo while having my dinner at one of the cafes - Cafe Le Monde. It was a very relaxing cafe and a nice meal with a two piece band playing blues/jazz. The cafe was actually much busier than it appears in this photo. Firstly, there were many full tables to the sides and behind me. Secondly, I took this later on when many people from the tables in front of me had left...
